So, as most 'idol' fans have heard, David Archuleta's father, Jeff Archuleta, has been banned from American Idol rehearsals. I saw this on a tivo'd entertainment weekly today.
My mother said she thinks this will ruin his chances of winning. She thinks that his fanbase will be angered enough by Archuleta's reliance on his father to not vote for him this upcoming week.
I think that's completely ridiculous.
It's not David's fault that his dad is a nut job.
He's just another stage-dad, David is the VICTIM. He can't be blamed for his fathers actions.
To tell the truth, Archuleta shouldn't be the winner of American Idol, anyway. If the contest was actually based on talent rather than popularity, David Cook would win hands down. I'm not saying Archuleta is not talented, because he is. Very talented. Cook is better.
But I think David Archuleta will win because, yes he has a great talent, but he also has the popular vote.
His chances of success should not be effected by his crazy father who also allegedly lashed out on other contestants when David was on Star Search.
Contrary to my mothers belief that this news will hurt Archuleta, I think in the end it will help him.
If people in America are smart enough to realize that it's not Archuleta's fault, I think he'll receive an enormous amount of sympathy votes, pushing him through to the final two (where he belongs anyway), and ultimately to be the next American Idol.

Things I want to do..
You know how there's always something that you really want to do, you're just too afraid to do it?
Why does this happen?
I don't understand how our brains function this way.
You'd think that if you really really wanted to do something, the fear would just vanish.
Maybe not vanish but... maybe not hold you back as much.
How many people let fear just dictate their actions and decisions?
I can't imagine living that way. I'm not saying I'm fearless, everybody has to be scared of something. But I don't think you should let fear decide who you are. Move through your fear and connect with yourself.
Actually, I don't really know what I'm talking about, I'm just kind of rambling.

Sweeney Todd!
As ridiculous as the Golden Globes were this year- thank you, writers strike- I watched anyway.
I was dying to know if Johnny Depp was going to win Best Actor in Comedy/Musical.
My mom said, no, he's not going to win. He won't.
WELL HE DID!
AND I AM SO EXCITED. Sweeney Todd has skyrocketed to one of my top 5 favorite movies which is very hard to do.
And then, to further my excitement, Sweeney Todd won best comedy/musical!
How could it not? It's Johnny Depp, he sings, and he slits peoples throats.
I think we have a winner.
As for all the other categories, I was not impressed. To tell the truth, most of the tv shows and actors that won I had never even heard of. TV is just not good these days. I was also a little disappointed that Denzel Washington did not win for American Gangster. I thought he was excellent in that movie. But who am I to judge? I've never even seen the other movies haha.
But, thank god for Sweeney Todd.

Lies
I am a liar.
I lie everyday.
Who doesn't?
I'm beginning to not like myself. I lie to my mother almost every single day about where I'm going and who I'm with.
Sometimes, there's a reason for it, i.e. she doesn't like the people i'm hanging out with.
But now, it's come to the point where even if i'm going to the movies with my most goody-goodiest of friends, I lie and say I'm doing something else.
It's ridiculous.
I feel like Dane Cook. I'm lying just because I can.
And besides from the guilt I feel from lying, I LIKE it.
The guilt can be pushed aside. It's a silly emotion.

Global Warming
Why do people choose to ignore the fact that Global Warming is happening? My mother thinks its this made up thing that won't ever happen and everybody should just forget it and continue on with their lives.
She is in DENIAL.
GLOBAL WARMING IS DEF HAPPENING!
Look around you! Crazy weather, hotter temperatures, animals dying...it's happening.
I live in Maryland and right now, around the end of October, beginning of November, the temperature is usually hovering in the 60's, maybe a high 50 every once in a while.
But all last week, temperatures were up the 80's! That's insane October weather and I don't think it's just a fluke thing. It's because of Global Warming. Rainforests are being destroyed, the ozone layer is fallilng apart, WE NEED TO STOP THIS!
Everybody can pitch in to help stop this monster before it gets too our of control.
Car-pool, unplug electrical appliances when not in use. Do you know that 40% or so of your electricity comes from appliances that are not being used but simply plugged in? Unplug your stereo when you're not listening to it, unplug that hair straightener, unplug those laptops when they're turned off and not charging! Don't leave lights on, use environment friendly lightbulbs- they're much cooler than normal light bulbs. I have them in my bathroom and when i'm getting ready in the morning and flip the switch on, the lights come on kind of tinted and not as bright and they gradually get lighter so it's not so hard on your eyes in the morning! Recycle.
These things are not that hard to do. Eventually, it will just be routine and you'll feel better about yourself because you're saving the environment.
Everybody needs to take action.

Dumbledore is gay!??!?!?
Yeah. Whatever. Is it that big of a shock?
Okay, maybe it is. But people are blowing this way out of proportion. I mean, who really cares? Does it matter that Dumbledore is gay? It doesn't change the book, if anything, it makes the 7th one more understandable with the whole Grindelwald thing.
All these people who think that Harry Potter is " a subtle indoctrination into anti-Christian values" [Laura Mallory, The Sydney Morning Herald,] ARE RIDICULOUS! It's a FICTIONAL STORY! I seriously doubt that J.K. Rowling is trying to send subliminal messages into children's heads. People like Mallory need to GET OVER THEMSELVES!!! The world is a'changin'! and we need to keep changing with it!
Get over your homophobia and embrace the Dumbledore everybody has always loved!

LOVE VS. RELIGION
"Love is a many-splendored thing, Love lifts us up where we belong, All you need is Love"
-Ewan McGregor, Moulin Rouge
Isn't Moulin Rouge a great movie? This quote has been stuck in my head all day along with "The greatest thing you'll ever know is to love and be loved in return."
No, they're not just stuck in my head because they're beautiful quotes from a beautiful man from a beautiful movie- Today, they actually MEAN something to me.
Today, before first period, some friends and I were talking about a test we all had to take 3rd period about a story that was loosely based around religion. Somehow, we ended up on the topic of dating someone outside of one's religion and all of my friends and I agree that it doesn't matter as long as you love the person- all of us except one anyway.
Apparantly, she would never date or marry somebody from another religion. The rest of us burst into fits of outrage. That's like saying you would never marry somebody from a different race or just anybody who's different than you in general. She then went on about what if say a Jewish man married a Catholic woman. What about Christmas and Hanukkah? Wouldn't they and their children be confused about which to celebrate? Um...hello? Have you ever seen the OC? Chrismukkah anyone?? Holiday's are not a crisis! I'm sure the couple could come up with a compromise. When you love someone and want to be with them, the last thing on your mind should be what to do over different holidays you may celebrate!
It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. After a few minutes, the shock died down. I recalled a conversation I had had with her over the summer about her "boyfriend"- a guy who lives on the other side of the country. I will be x, she will be y:
y: My mom asked me the other day if Michael* is Catholic
x: ...yea
y: Well, I don't know if he is or not so my mom told me that I better find out.
x: Why...does it matter?
y: Well I can't date somebody from a different religion, it wouldn't be right!
x: why not!?
y: it just wouldn't
x: so you're telling me that you would dump him right now if he was like Protestant or something? Even though you "love" him? [I didn't say the "love" so sarcastically, it's just written that way]
y: well, yeah.
x: that's stupid.
Love is Love. My dad is athiest and my mom is Catholic- like Catholic as in she went to Catholic school and her mom goes to church every single day- not every sunday- every DAY. Now, my mom isn't as crazy as my grandmother is, but she's still pretty Catholic. My dad being athiest and having no faith whatsoever in god doesn't bother her at all. She loves him so it doesn't matter. Sure, they have their arguments about it and it was slightly confusing for me growing up- but it helped me decide for myself what I believed in. I wasn't brainwashed into being Catholic, nor was I brainwashed into being athiest. I'm agnostic now, and I'm happy. Love is just about Love. You should be able to love anybody of any gender, any race, religion, or creed. It's one thing if you HOPE to marry somebody who shares your beliefs, but if you intentionally avoid people who are different than you, it's wrong. If you happen to fall in love with somebody of a different race or religion, how can you just turn them away? It doesn't matter. Love is Love and Love is all you need.

BOYS
Are all boys so immature??
My ex-boyfriend is acting like I've fallen off the face of the earth. I mean I know THAT'S normal, but we ended on seemingly good terms. It just kind of fell apart and things were just to the point where we were waiting for the other person to end it- which I ended up doing.
I'm not expecting us to be best friends and stop and have chats in the halls when we pass but looking the other way and completely ignoring me all together is a little bit rude- especially on the good terms of our break up.
I'm just completely flustered and embarassed that I ever even dated this jerk in the first place.
I'm a human being not a disease. He's friendly with his other ex-girlfriend who he dated before me. He actually talks to her sometimes- but he won't even look at me in the halls? He's just a jerk.
A JERK.
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE DATED A GUY/CHICK LIKE THIS????

SCHOOL BITES
If there's one thing that I absolutely loathe in this world, it's high school guidance counselors.
Okay, that's a lie. I'm sure that there's more things that I loathe more but at the moment, guidance counselors are at the top of the list.
I want to know something: How hard is the job?
It can't be that hard.
Really. Unless I'm missing some big important guidance counselor job.
What do they do? Put together schedules, take care of senior stuff, talk to people in need.
Come on! And how hard is it to put together a schedule? I'm sure it can be difficult for them to organize classes and blah blah blah but they are all equipped with computers!
Okay so here's my deal: Last year, at the end of 3rd quarter, course selection sheets were passed around. I signed up for the following classes: AP (Advanced Placement) Statistics, AP Psychology, AP Chem, Band, Pre-Calculus, English IV, and AP Art History.
I get my schedule last monday morning and found that I was not put into AP Art History OR AP CHEM. INSTEAD, the idiots put me into AP Biology and French IV. I never took French III, nor French II or I for that matter. And I certainly didn't sign up for AP Bio...it wasn't even an alternate class. So I immediatly marched down to the guidance office, filled out one of those stupid little forms and waited. and waited and waited and waited. I went down to the office yesterday. They basically told me to get out and they would call me when they were done changing the schedule. this whole "Changing of the schedule" deal confused me because fortunately for me, Theres an AP CHEM class at the same time as the AP Bio class I was in, and fortunately, AP ART HISTORY was at the same time as French IV. This should have simplified things for those dim-witted counselors.
Today I go in for a meeting and my counselor rambles on about how she's not supposed to change AP classes without consent from the principle. Which is completely ridiculous because the AP classes were ones that I had signed up for and gotten approval to take LAST YEAR. It was THEIR MISTAKE, yet I was suffering for it by sitting in 2 classes where I had absolutely no idea what was going on.
A half hour after the meeting started, it finally ENDED and my schedule was completely switched around. I'm now in the right classes but now at completely different times when the switch should have been quite simple.
Bottom Line: I hate Guidance Counselors.
And you should too.

Chick-fil-A
Oh, how I love Chick-fil-A.
It tastes so good on a stressful day.
Okay, I'm done rhyming.
But really. Chick-fil-A
just makes my day
10 times better.
How does one make such perfect fries?
Who knows.
Who else loves chick fil a?
